The Mystery of the Cup Holder Gap: A Gentle, Science-Backed Look at Everyday Car Design

Honoring my mother-in-law’s golden rule of keeping things simple, functional, and stress-free, here are my gentle rules for mastering the car interior:
Use the Bridge Wisely: If you have a travel mug with a handle, place it in the cup holder and let the handle rest in that little gap. It keeps the mug stable and prevents spills!  Block the Abyss: Invest in a simple, soft car seat gap filler. It slides right between the seat and the console, keeping your phone, wallet, and keys from falling into the dark void

Designated Homes: Keep a small, designated trash bin and a specific pocket or tray for your sunglasses and toll coins. A place for everything, and everything in its place.  Keep It Gentle: If you do drop something, don’t contort your body or strain your back trying to fish it out while driving. Pull over safely, or wait until you are home. Your physical safety is always more important than a loose coin.
